Coalition of Youth for Devolution
CYD convenes the Youth Devolution Festival to connect young people with devolution, governance and civic engagement.
The Festival creates space for young people to interact with leaders and institutions, share perspectives across counties, strengthen accountability and influence public decision-making.
Our vision
National. Youth-led. Non-partisan. Civic. Inclusive.
Why YDF 2026
As Kenya approaches the 2027 General Elections, civic preparedness and peaceful participation matter.
The Festival responds to low voter registration among some youth, weak electoral literacy, voter apathy, political manipulation and exclusion from decision-making. It addresses electoral violence, hate speech, misinformation, disinformation and irresponsible digital political communication.
Our conversations also examine weak internal party democracy, opaque political financing, barriers facing young aspirants, exclusion of marginalised youth and youth with disabilities, and limited accountability and meaningful participation in governance.
Through electoral and governance institutions, political-party processes, nominations, young aspirants and youth peace commitments, YDF gives participants a platform to develop practical recommendations for the next electoral cycle.
